[Opinions] Axleandra
So apparently my friend has discovered that her name was misspelled on her birth certificate. Instead of Alexandra ("Alex"), it's Axleandra, and she'd like to go by Axle.So it's being pronounced Ak-sel-an-dra [Axle Andra]. Personally I think it should be pronounced Aks-lee-an-dra [Ax Leandra].
Anyway, WDYT? And how would you pronounce Axleandra?

I don't like it and I'd say Axle-andra.

Gosh! Yeah, why not ... unless her mn is Rose (goes off giggling).

LOL, that's different. Axle is actually kind of fun, but it looks like Ax Leandra to me too. Like mirfak said, Axelandra would be much nicer.

I think it sounds like a character from a comic strip about hot rodding. Axle-andra, like car parts and stuff. I'd say "AKS'll-ANN-dra." But you told me it was like that. I'd probably have guessed Ax-Leandra too.If it were Axelandra I would find it much more appealing. I'd pronounce it slightly differently "AK-seh-LAN-dra" and it'd sound more elegant to me.

just by how it's spelt and how i read i would pronounce it Ax-Lean-dra. that sounds kinda weird though. so i guess Ak-sel-an-dra would be my second guess.

Man, I would have changed that asap! Then again, not everybody cares. On my nephew's bc, his father is listed as Gregroy (rather than Gregory) and my sister never thought to change it.So, does your friend go by Alex now or does she want to be called Axle? Strange. Oh, I pronounce Axleandra the way you do.

My first thought: "Someone made a mistake while trying to type Alexandra." If I were her, I'd probably just have the mistake corrected if I'd been known as Alexandra "Alex" all of my life.I'd pronounce Axleandra Aks-lee-an-dra.

I'd pronounce it the same way you would and I definitely like that pronunciation better. I actually think it's kinda cool. I like Leandra in and of itself quite a bit, so I think that's a lot of why. I like it better said aloud than on paper, though; it does legitimately look like a butchering of Alexandra, and that's off-putting.I'm not really a fan of the nn Axle, but if your friend likes it I guess that's all that counts. I do know of an Alexandra who goes by 'Axie', though; I like that a lot better.

Thats confusing. It looks like the parents couldn't spell Alexandra properly.
