Help[Opinions] Keta
I posted polls, but I like to hear opinions as well. I'm thinking of using Keta (KET-ah) for a female character, possibly the lead, in a story. I'm not sure if it fits yet. Any opinions are greatly appreciated. Also, I may decide to use it as a nn to either Keshet, Kestrel, Keturah, or Ketzi'ah. Do you like any of these or have another suggestion for me?

Lol, great minds think alike? If you would prefer I don't use it, I totally understand. Kathe is pretty similar. The first vowel is just drawn out a tad bit more. I call it flatter, if that makes any sense, but I do like it too. :)

I doubt the story my Keturah character is in will ever be published anyway and she's a fairly minor character as it is.
It's a great name. It should be used!
I actually discovered Kathe first, then Ketta. No one knows how to pronounce Kathe where I'm from anyway.

I like it as a full name rather than a nn for something. However when I first saw this I immediately said, in my mind, KEE-tuh. Would you be opposed to the spelling Ketta so the pronunciation is more clear? It's quite a cute name actually, I like it for a book character :)

I'm liking Ketta a lot (beethoven also suggested it). I think the spelling does fit better, though your pronunciation of KEE-tuh is also cute. So many decisions...

Oooh...that's pretty. Definitely adding it to my list. I think I'm dropping Keshet and Kestrel because they have the same number of syllables as Keta/Ketta and it always bugs me when nicknames are the same length as the full name. So, now we have Keturah, Ketzi'ah and Kateri. :)
ETA: I noticed somewhere around half a dozen pronunciations. Just out of curiosity, how are you pronouncing Kateri?

I personally prefer pronouncing it "cat-er-ee" with no emphasis anywhere. I've heard pronounced like that by various priests/nuns referencing the saint. But one of my friends just got confirmed and she pronounces her saint name "ca-TARE-ee." *shrugs* I guess it's what you prefer.

Keta is cute, but Ketta makes way more sense. Keturah is the most intuitive full name for it I think.

That's a good point. Now that I look at it, Keta seems like it should be pronounced KAY-tah (rhyming with beta). Ketta fits the pronunciation better. Thanks! :)
