The K adds an extra edge and mystique to the name. I like it.
To me, it is neither common nor dated. I prefer this spelling a lot more than, which to me is too common, but still not dated.
I like it. I don't think it's too dated. Eric/Erik is still common here in the U.S., but it's less common than it used to be, so I'd say it's now safe to use at least in the U.S. I'd avoid using Erik as a FN in Sweden where it's #9 because the top 10 is definitely too popular for me, but it would be okay as a middle name.
In honor of my current infatuation with all things Scandinavian, I give Erik a nod of approval. Notwithstanding, there are a lot of Scandinavian names which I like much more.
