The 'Ho' doesn't bother me so much as the 'Hose'. I think it's just an ugly name all around.

I agree completely. Hosanna is very pretty whereas I see "hose" when I look at Hosea. When we were kids, my uncles called us "hose heads" I have no idea what that meant but it just isn't something I associate with a good name. I don't hate it nor would I advise anyone against it per say... I just wouldn't use it personally.

I know a woman named Hosana. She goes by Hosi ("HOHZ-ee") and it never occurs to me that there's a "ho-" or a "hose" in there. Just my two cents.

It's not the Ho-, it's the Hose.
I love the aesthetically-similar Hosanna, though. What a cool alternative to Susanna that would be.
