[Opinions] Draco
I've made a poll about this name and I'm kind of surprised that the majority of voters don't like it. What's wrong with it?
So what are your thoughts on Draco? Is it too rich in Harry Potter association to be usable?
It's one of those names, for me, that the Harry Potter franchise is not enough to deter me from using it. My favorites combos right now are
Draco Malachi
Draco Elijah
Draco Thorsten
Draco Adlai

All associations aside, I think it's such a handsome name!
Yes, people will most likely associate it with Harry Potter. However, I don't understand why it would deter people from using it, as if it were something negative, since HP is one of the greatest literary books written.
Sure, the character wasn't exactly morally good, but who cares. People don't hesitate when using the name Juliet fro example, even though imo she was incredibly flawed and not exactly the best role model - why should names like Draco, Bellatrix, Narcissa be any different.

Draco just plain sounds evil to me.
The HP connection is pretty strong right now. Maybe eventually it will be more useable. There's also the Athenian law giver (draconian), a constellation, and more associations than I thougt of.

I think the HP association's too strong, and it's reminiscent of dragons, and in drakes as in ducks on the top of that.
I like the dragon reference and ducks are alright too. I am a fan of Harry Potter and have been since the first book came out so perhaps that's why the association isn't too much to stop me from using it. If it was used in something I dislike, Twilight for example, that would be another story.
Thanks for your input :)

I quite like Draco, its a nice, classy name. But I think if people were to name their son Draco, because Harry Potter is so big and is probably gonna be around for ages, the child will grow up always getting comments about it, mostly because aside from Harry Potter it is unusal, the same would happen if someone were to name their daughter Hermione or Bellatrix. I hadn't heard of some of the names until reading Harry Potter, but that have more to do with the fact I was born '96 and didnt have the chance to before it.

I love Draco! I do think of Harry Potter but that isn't a issue for me. Draco Malachi and Draco Thorsten are awesome!
