Help[Opinions] Shekinah...
is the name of a young woman I just met. She appears to be in her mid 20s. She pronounces it sheh-KIE-nah. I've had the name on my PNL for a while, but I find that after hearing it on an actual person, I like it more. :)

The name is like the flower of the Poke'mon Vileplume, it is just too heavy. I never like a name that does not have a set usage population. Various means nobody knows.

The "stupid, trashy, ghetto" comment was made by a poster who became notorious for creating drama on The Lounge by creating prejudiced, insulting, and rude posts. I for one don't like it when any name that sounds African-American is automatically labeled with those adjectives. Take it just one little step further---and it becomes African-American *equals* stupid, trashy, and ghetto.

My sentiments exactly. I guess that poster was before my time, but I have noticed that all her/his comments tend toward the prejudiced and insulting side.

I think you can report them to the owner of the site Mike C and he can remove them. Same thing with any offensive posts.

Wow, indeed. I hadn't read the comments before on that one. I'm always surprised by some of the things people say. If they don't like it, they should just say so and move on. There is never a need for insults and insensitivity.

I didn't notice any insults or insensitivity... just observations... I hang out w/ charismatics and am fine w/ that... Acknowledging the source is not specifically insulting, but a somewhat neutral comment... It's an ok name imo.

I was referring to a portion in the comments section of the name that says "This name sounds stupid, trashy, and ghetto." In my opinion, it would suffice to say "I don't like this name" without insulting those who do like it or without stereotyping it.

ok then... that wasn't me. I apparently missed that comment... was originally thinking of the posts on the opinions board here rather than under the name directly... a little confused... my mistake... not quite like calling a kid God.

Let me guess... Parents are charismatic, right? That's usually who uses the name. (not saying that's a bad thing... just tht they're easy to pick out)
