"TAY-tum," as in tater tots. I dislike it for this reason.

I just googled tater tots as I've heard them mentioned a lot on American blogs. I had asssumed for some reason that they were a type of sweets (maybe like jelly tots) but they seem to be like potato croquettes! I hadn't made the tater / potato connection, even though my grandad always called potatos taters. At least that's another mystery solved.
