I've tried really, really hard to get into the Ed names but I just can't. Meh. Ted is interesting as a nn for Edgar, though but then Theodore nn Ted is better, imo. And I think you're right about the charm wearing off with time. Its a shame because I love the classics and I want to love the Eddies of the Victorian era but they just sound too clumsy.

Yeah, Edgar is an odd one. I love the Poe association, and I SUPERLOVE the idea of a toddler named Edgar, and of course an old man named Edgar is fine, but I cannot wrap my brain around a 19 year old Edgar. I guess he could always go by the slightly slicker Eddie or Ed, but then why not just use Edward.
