It's neither cute and refreshing nor boring. It just makes me giggle. I can't take it seriously. I also had a great-uncle named Edgar, and when my sisters and I were children, we didn't pronounce Edgar correctly, and we used to say "Uncle Egger." I think that's why I think it's silly.
