I'm neutral. On one hand, I kind of like it, but it sounds a bit off to me. I tend to think of the word "salad." I prefer Alec.

It reminds me of Aled Jones... that's my only association really. Very seasonal!S xx

Aled slips past me so quickly that I hardly have time to notice it. It's like quicksilver. My brain registers it as Alec, but then it readjusts it to Alan, but then it's not sure. It's a little unsettling. But that's just my ignorance of it as a name. It certainly is pleasant sounding (are you saying "AL-ed" or "AH-led," or another way?), has meaning -- a strange meaning, but a meaning. (Hello, this is my son Offspring. Huh?). The "-ed" on the end is pleasing to me because it makes me think of medieval names like Edwin and Ethelred. If you don't mind the confusion with Alec / Alan, then I don't see why Aled couldn't work just fine as a boy's name. Aled Rhys

I really like it, but I'm not sure how to pronounce it exactly. Is it like Alan but with a D sound at the end? Or is it more like AY-led? Like any of these combos?Aled Reilly

Welcome. :) Thanks. I've always been pronouncing it like Alan with a D in my head. Haha. I like AY-led too though.
