[Opinions] Magi
As a name. I like it. More as a middle name than anything. I prefer the pronunciation of maj-eye to that of madge-eye.What would your combos be?

It's the Welsh spelling of Maggie, and is pronounced exactly the same, so that's what I would think it was if I saw it. As a reference to Biblical wise men it makes no sense to me as a name, because, like they said, it's a plural.

Yes, it's a plurual, as you stated and knowing that it's the Welsh spelling of Maggie, really turns me off to it. I think it may be really great as a pet name though!

I think it's a little weird for a name since it's a plural word. To me it's like using Roses, Cacti, or Zephyrs as a name. It just seems strange, whereas Magus, Rose, Cactus, or Zephyr make sense to use as a name. Magi does have a nice sound though (which the singular Magus, Magos, or even Mage does not have!).

That's a very valid point that I dind't think of at all. The sound seemed very nice and I got carried away with it!

But the Magi were assigned such cool namesBalthazar, Melchior and Casper are so much more interesting than Magi. I think Magi would be a really neat name for a pet, I can see why you're attracted to it, but to me it can't compete with their assigned names.Leopold Magi!

I think you may be right. Melchior would bick a kick butt middle name!

I don't understand what the difference is between "maj-eye" and "madge-eye".I think it's really, really tacky as a name. It's like when parents name their kid Messiah. It just seems like it's trying waaay too hard to scream "I'm religious and powerful!" to everyone.

Ouch. *licking my wounds* "Maj" would be said more like "Raj" and Madge, like well, Madge.I don't think Messiah and Magi are anything similar. The 3 wise men weren't even really devotees of Christ, they just thought he was a new king from what I understand. I respect your opinion though. Guess I just felt like I should explain a bit?

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as too harsh. To each their own of course :)I think the reason I put Messiah and Magi in the same category is that neither of them is an actual biblical name. They're just biblical titles, basically. To me it's like naming a daughter Princess.

That's OK, I didn't want to come off as being "holier than thou". That's what I was really addressing I guess.
Thank you for your opinion!
