I've just warmed up to Bertha - i love old fashioned names; the more old fashioned, the better!

I still think it's one of the most unfortunate names out there...

My favorite form is French Berthe, "behrt." I love it.

Bertha still has that "birth" sound in there. But I think of Jane Eyre and "Bertha Antoinetta Mason" and it does have a lovely, Victorian, frumpy-chic vibe to it.

I've never heard of Berhta before. I'm off to check out the link to see what the pronunciaiton is. I suspect it's the same as French Berthe, but with an "-uh" on the end. If that's so, then it is very pretty.

Bertha is still screams old women to me. Berhta not only sounds prettier, but the sp is really cool. People will probably think it's a misspelled Bertha, though.

I don't like the English pronunciation, but I very much enjoy the German one. My grandmother was Anna Bertha with the German pronunciation and I think it's very pretty.

Berhta looks mispelled to me, like a typo or like I've had a moment of dyslexia, despite the fact that it conveys the pronunciation better.
