You need to pronounce the -i- higher than the -e- in purses; more like the -i- sound in the unstressed syllable of lettuce.

I like seeing it, but not enough to use it. I dread the prospect of Percy! There's someone called Persis, a minor character, in one of the later Anne (of Green Gables) books, which is where I and thousands like me saw it first. Good associations!
