If you saw the name Daiel in print, would your first instinct be that the character is male or female?
- Definitely male
If it was pronounced day-EL, would it change your perception?
- Instinctively, I wouldn't pronounce it like that (when reading most of the time you don't really know how to pronounce an unusual/made-up name) and because of the way it looks I would still think it was male.
If it was pronounced DAYL, would it change your perception?
- I like this pronunciation, and it's still male to me.
What do you think of Daiel as a name and which pronunciation and gender do you prefer for it?
- It looks like either a creative spelling of Dale or a made-up name. It also makes me think of the Daíl which is a part of the Irish parliament. I much prefer the DAYL pronunciation and I prefer it for a boy. It's not a bad name and I think it could work well as a name for a character.
