Surnames: To determine surnames, go to
www.random.org and set the minimum to 1 and maximum to 1000. Click "Generate" and use that number to determine the surname at
http://names.mongabay.com/most_common_surnames.htm. (Example: random.org generates a 971. I go to Mongabay's site and find that the 971st most popular surname is Rasmussen and that is my surname.) *Hint - Use the CTRL and F key to generate the "find" option. In that, you may type your generated number and it will take you right there. Much easier! :)
For family member names, follow the same steps, but go to
http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/ to determine names instead. Use 2009 as your year and pick the top 1,000 under "Popularity". You will generate two numbers per person and those numbers will translate to your names. However, if you dislike a combo, feel free to generate a new middle name.
Hope that's understandable! Have fun and shoot me any questions you might have! :)
