[Opinions] Hala

I don't know. Probably a symptom of going to a school with a lot of Jewish kids, but my knee-jerk reaction was to say "challah", and now I can't get that out of my head. Back-of-the-throat 'ch' and everything.
Hala is lovely, and its meaning is exquisite.
I pronounce it like the jargonistic exclamation "Holla."

A former math teacher of mine from Egypt is named Hala. She pronounces it HAH-la. I don't really like the "ah-la" sound, but this name isn't bad at all - it does have a lovely meaning. I don't think I would use it, but it's nice for someone else!
I really like it, too. I'd say "HAH-lah", although some people would think it's "HA-lah" or "HAY-lah" (all using BtN's pronunciation guide).
