Yeah i'd have to agree with Meriel on not changing the spelling as i am Irish myself my mother would kill me.
I think that's a gorgeous name. I love Celtic and Gaelic names, with their proper spellings, eg Niamh, Aoife, Ailidh
As you can see my name is Ailidh and I live in Australia ....... this is when the spelling and pronounciation of my name come into a bit of trouble!
People always comment and no-one can ever pronounce it....when i am waiting for the doctor etc to call my name I just wait for that hesitant pause and know that I must be next!!!!!!!!!
Oh, and by the way......my parents even had trouble with the spelling..... my birth certificate had to be cahnged to make it correct!

I think myself lucky to have Ailidh as a name. Not many spell it as I do, but after a wee look at the web I have found more than I thought. It is the Gaelic form of Helen and also means 'kind'. I think it comes with a lot of energy and suffused with joy, but maybe thats just me,
take care
Ailidh

It sounds good, but the spelling's gonna result in a lifetime of blank stares ("Kayo-immy"?)for the bearer. You might phoneticize to Kweeva, or something like that.
NO!!!!!!!!! Changing the spelling of a beautiful Celtic name so it is more phonetic KILLS the name!!!!!!!! It is an absolute crime!
Kinda reminds me of an old Monty Python skit with a fellow whose name was spelled Raymond "Luxury" Yacht but pronounced Throatwobbler Mangrove.
No doubt a name of Gaelic origin...
