Did a lightbulb blow in the Exec. Director of Talking Books? I hope so...

:/ I don't like it. First of all, I dislike surnames and first names. And second of all, I don't like masculine names on girls, and Edison seems very masculine to me.

That wouldn't be too bad if it was a boy.

The reason it struck me as better than Addison is that at least Edison seems to be after a worthy famous figure with whom anyone would want to be associated. Addison reminds me of an old man or a disease. That said, I do think Addie is more feminine-sounding than Eddie in our ears, but I would love to hear Edie as a nickname.... Or maybe they'll do an initials thing like "EJ."

I really dislike Addison for a girl, but at least a girl named Addison can go by Addie, which is fairly feminine. A girl named Edison would have a boyish name all the way around. I like Edison for a boy, but not for a girl. Addison is decent for boys as well.

I actually like Addison better. I would hate to be named Edison. Too much like Ed and too masculine. Is she supposed to be named after Thomas Edison?

Wah, I disagree! I think Addison would be a better name for a girl than Edison. At least Addison has moved to acceptable girl name and you could call her Addie. I can't see a female Ed or Eddie. Cringe.
