Help[Surname] English surname "Hesmer"
This english surname Hesmer is a southern England name, mostly found in the areas of Sussex and Kent. Does anybody know the meaning and origins of Hesmer??? Is Hesmer also of German origin??

The information at http://tinyurl.com/4lmpjj6 and http://www.verwandt.de/karten/absolut/hesmer.html indicates that it's a German name but I don't know the etymology.

Interesting. Perhaps Hesmer is a variant spelling of House, or Houser, which is also a German surname.
