And isn't it actually based on a true story, even? Not that the names couldn't have been changed...

Y'all have to know that rural Appalachian folks often use weird names. It doesn't mean they are Sci Fi. In some instances, the names are bastardizations of actual names.
Girls
Fairlight
Zady (Sadie)
Lulu
Ruby Mae
Nuda (no telling...something made up or a combination of two names)
Lizette (Lisette)
Opal
Vella
Clarabelle
Swannie (Suwanee as in the river)
Mountie (Probably some religious connotation...ie sermon on the mount)
Boys
Creed (virtue type name)
Dicle (maybe from surname Deekle)
Larmie (Laramie like the river)
Lundy (French for Monday is Lundi)
Ault (Scottish surname and would have been common in Appalachia during this time period due to the ethnicity of the immigrants)
Arrowood (herb/plant that is medicinal)
Wraight (surname)
Rorex (surname)
Hazen (surname)
Smith (guess :))
