I prefer it as a middle name. Because of its biblical origin it may not be appealing to some people but I'm starting to like it. I don't think it's feminine enough to be a first name.

I wouldn't know how to pronounce it really. Also, I would have thought it was male (like Isaac I suppose). I guess it would be OK as a middle name.

I thought it looked masculine, but now that I know that it isn't, my interest is peaked...

I would pronounce is IS-kə (soft "s" sound, not "z"). It is pronounced yis-KAH in Hebrew. Jessica is supposedly based on Iscah.

By the way, I think you meant "piqued" not "peaked". :-)

it's funny because after i wrote the post and signed off I thought about it... and then rationalized that something can cause your interest to come to a "peak" so it is fine to not sign back on and correct it! hahahaha!

thanks for the info on the name, with the hebrew prn I can now see more clearly where the Jessica of it all comes from...

Having never come across the name before, I assumed it was male, so maybe you're right about it's femininity. I like it as a male name actually lol, but don't worry not enough to add it to my list
