What's wrong today? You look as if you've seen a ghost. Some wine and say what's going on... Okay, I'll stop now. :)
So yeah, it makes me think of the Les Miserables character, although that's a bonus for it. But I still don't like it. It makes me think of Marcus, which is a named I've really dislike all my life for some reason. But Marius is at least softer and more romantic, so I can't really dislike it, either.
Not sure about nicknames. I guess Mar or Maury?
