[Opinions] Humboldt
What are your thoughts about Humboldt? I thought it was a legitimate name but it's not in this database OR the surnames database. I think it would make a cute mn.
Perhaps... Sebastian Humboldt
Finnegan Humboldt
Julian Humboldt
Phinehas Humboldt
Solomon Humboldt
It feels sort of stuffy and warm, so I want to put it with a first name that's more elegant...

Reminds me of the Humboldt Squid. I don't like it.

Penguin...
It has a cool sound to it & it could make a good MN... Julian Humboldt has a cool ring...
But unfortunately all I can think of is the squid...

It feels like a penguin. As in Humboldt penguins.
Aww...
...all the better to be dressed in a tux, as Llewella suggested. :)

Humboldt could grow on me, methinks. If I came across one, I'd assume it was a family name.
Alastair Humboldt
Franklin Humboldt
Sylvester Humboldt
Geoffrey Humboldt
Ian Humboldt
Jasper Humboldt
Rafe Humboldt
Reid Humboldt
Theodore Humboldt
Forgot to say: I think all of your pairings work; I especially like Sebastian Humboldt and Finnegan Humboldt. :)

...as in County?
That's the name of the county I live in. I can't take it seriously as a person's name, just because of that...even though it was named after a person, but as a first name? Nah. Not feeling it.

Aha. I have that problem with Caledonia, among others. I can't take a name seriously if I associate too strongly with a place either.
I really don't like it, and it's not completely usable in my opinion.
It should definitely be a middle name if anything
Julian Humboldt

hmm... I think I like it. It reminds me of the word 'humble' maybe said with a deutch accent!
I like the idea of it as a middle name. It seems like alot to try and pull off as a first.
I like Julian Humboldt, Phinehas Humboldt and Solomon Humboldt of your combos.
Maybe you could do these with it too:
Alabaster
Johan
Ormond
Blaise
Normandin

Alabaster Humboldt is fantastic! I think I'd have to classify it more as a GP, but it is great nonetheless. I like Blaise Humboldt too.
Yes, it kind of is, isn't it? I really like Alabaster as a name for a boy though. I just worry about the "baster" part of the name being fodder for some teasing.
It's a surname. Tons of surnames aren't in the surname database. Mine's not. :) If you Google it, there are lots of towns, a university, and some guy with that name. It also sounds really really familiar... is it a character in a book or something?
I agree with you, it is stuffy and warm. It goes well with something that looks good in a tuxedo. I really like Finnegan Humboldt. Finnegan has an elegance about it, but just enough humor to pair well with Humboldt, who also has a sense of humor.
Maybe something like:
Charles Humboldt
Edward Humboldt
Oscar Humboldt
Stuart Humboldt - ooh
Aldo Humboldt
nah... aside from Stuart, I'm not totally digging any of those either.

Oh, Stuart Humboldt *is* nice. :)
Alexander von Humdoldt was a German explorer, if that's the guy you were thinking of.

Stuart Humboldt is lovely. I quite like Charles Humboldt and Oscar Humboldt too :)
It's a type of squid, but I can't think of a character named Humboldt.

Well, a squid is quite a character?
Isn't it also a penguin? I think that's where I've heard it before.
