It's not terrible, but I would think it strange to see used if it had no significance to the parents. Like it's a family name, or maybe you have some liking for the Hudson River or Hudson Bay or you met while working at a Hudsons.

Christian parents often use the name as a nod to Hudson Taylor.

Hmm, haven't heard of him. Well a namesake of someone you admire is also an acceptable reason to use an otherwise random surname, too. :)
