I've had Bon on my gp list for quite some time and I've seen it a lot lately because of the band Bon Iver (which I looked up on wikipedia and found out is from the French words bon hiver and not, to my disappointment, a name)
Anyway, there was a singer who went by the name Bon almost his whole life (his real name was Ronald) so I think it's usable. It's really growing on me and I would like to know what you think of Bon.

First thing I thought of. Personally I find it kind of silly as a given name. Cute for a NN, but not as a full name.

Also bon-bons, stocks and bons, and bond, james, bond. Maybe bondage. It doesn't sound like a name to me either.

It feels incomplete to me, I'd prefer Bono or Bon as a nickname for Bonaventura.

Do you pronounce it like `bawn`, or are you pronouncing it like the French word?
It doesn't really make a difference to me how much I like it (which is not-at-all, sorry) but I'm just curious.

the dead lead singer from ACDC comes to mind. And the french word for good. but other than that I don't really like it as a name.

Oh, I know, I just didn't think others would. Still, he was a great singer (in my opinion any way) and the reason why I have Bon on my gp list.

Oh, no doubt about that. I like Brian Johnson, but no one can replace Bon Scott.
