I kind of like it. It's a bit of a mouthful, and a little pretentious though. I think it would depend on the person's personality who was bearing the name, to determine what I really think of it. How are you pronouncing it? I go back and forth between pronouncing it av-a-LEEN and av-a-LYNE.
As far as it not becoming more popular, like
Ava, I think it's because it is very classic sounding and long.
Ava is classic as well, but not as long. I'm surprised that names like Avalyn or Avelyn aren't more popular but as far as
Aveline goes...it carries a certain class to it that most parents these days aren't really into. A lot of parents like their kids to have unique names, but usually not "classy", old-fashioned, unique names.
That being said, I feel like the name
Abigail is in the same boat as
Aveline and
Abigail is very popular now...I'll never understand that one. Maybe because of the young actress
Abigail Breslin?
