[Opinions] Re: Prague, Bohemia BAs

Sorry, I'm most fascinated by the use of "Bohemia" over Czech Republic. Where are you from that it's referred to as Bohemia?

Yeah, I had no idea Bohemia was still referred to as Bohemia. As I told Sofia, most of my knowledge of that region consists of memorizing the name of the country and its capital for my geography tests in high school. Hearing it called Bohemia is, to me, like hearing Turkey and the surrounding region called the Ottoman Empire or Iran called Persia. But it's really like Bavaria in Germany or (as Sofia said) Holland in the Netherlands? Well, I learned something new today!
The wikipedia page had a really pretty picture of a Bohemian town called Karlovy Vary. It looks gorgeous.

She's from Bohemia:-D
It's the same as calling The Netherlands Holland, since Bohemia is the biggest part of the Czech Rep. You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bohemia
And just to note, here the study of Czech language and culture at Uni is called bohemistika.
