Help[Opinions] Josephine
I'm not pregnant...just TTC and have been compiling my list since forever. I have one DSD Natasha, DD Scarlett and DS Malcolm. Up until very recently, the number one name on our list was Louisa (Lulu)- I still absolutely adore it but there are reasons I'm still looking for alternatives. One name I've loved since the beginning of time is Josephine and although I know it is more popular now than in many years, I've never met a little Josephine and I live in a pretty hipster naming area...know a Blythe, Adelaide, Bernard, Sybilla etc...which PS, I love:) Anyhow...for whatever reason I haven't really considered Josephine and all of a sudden, I'm madly in love with it. So....a few questions.
1. Do you think it works with my other kids?
2. I'm in love with the combo Josephine Primrose Anne (Anne is my middle name and my mom's...Primrose would honour my grandmother and all her sisters who shared the middle name Rose)...we'd use the nickname Posy, which I also adore.
3. Do you think it matters if the nn rhymes with your last name? My last name sounds like Jovi.
4. Have you noticed many baby Josephines? Does the name still feel fresh to you?
5. Do you think I could pull of always having her be Josphine or Posy? I wouldn't want Jo...maybe Josie but not Jo...my brother-in-law is Joe so it's a no.
6. What impression do you have of the name? To me it's spunky and elegant all rolled into one...you?
Pwef...I know that was a lot of questions and please don't feel like you have to go through all of them...just wanted to give you an idea of what I was thinking.
And just for background info...other names on our list are:
Louisa, Fleur (this and Willow are DH's favourite names ever,) Cordelia (though hubs is a no on this one,) Gwendolen and Dahlia.

2. The combo is okay. I don't particularly like Primrose, but since it's honouring it'll pass. :) What about Josephine Rosanne?
3. I can't imagine someone introducing themselves by the nickname Posy. So it probably doesn't matter if it's close to your last name.
4. NEver met a baby Josephine. I've only met one Josie and she is 19. I think it's still fresh.
5. When she is little, you can certainly enforce the "no-Jo" policy. But once she has an opinion of her own, all bets are off.

Yes. Gwendolen would work the best with your other kids' names, but Josephine works.

The combo has a nice flow, but I'm not too keen on Primrose. I think it's a good way to honor your family members who have the middle name Rose, though. How about Josephine Rosanna?

I would try to avoid using a nickname that rhymes with my last name. It depends on how often she would be called by her nickname. If often, chances are her nickname and surname would be used together.

I don't know any personally, but I encounter it here and there. It still seems fresh to me.

A lot of people go by their full names, so I think she could always just go by Josephine.
Josie is a really cute nickname, but Posy is a bit too cutesy for me. It's just a nickname, though, so no big deal really. I just find the sound of Josie much more pleasing.

I get a similar impression. It also has a quaintness to it that makes me think of country cottages and sunlight spilling in through a window onto a kitchen table with homemade lemonade, biscuits, and a jar of jam and on a quiet summer afternoon.
Others on your list:
Louisa - I don't care for the sound of it all that much, but it would work well with your other kids' names.
Fleur - Lovely.
Cordelia - It seems frilly in comparison to Natasha and Scarlett, but it would still work.

I like Josephine. It's my boyfriend's grandma's name, and will probably be used as a middle name if we ever have a daughter - my combos are Eve Josephine or Isla Josephine

1.) Definitely. I think it ties in nicely with your other childrens' names. They all have that elegant yet spunky feel to them. At least, that's what I think.
2.) I'm not sure what you're asking here. If it's if I like Josephine Primrose Anne, I have to say I'm not a fan. I've never been a fan of double middle names though. Those two names are significant for you and I love that. I think the names sound okay together.

I've always kind of liked Louisa even though it's not my normal style. Fleur I'm not a fan of, just because of the way it's pronounced. I love Willow. Love, love, love. And I have since I was about four. But now it's getting trendy and people are going crazy over it. I adore Cordelia--but I'm a huge Buffy and Angel fan. Gwendolen is a little old lady to me. Dahlia reminds me of the murder mystery(?).
