[Opinions] Dublin, Alphacentori & Early
These are three names I saw on a list today...
They are all grown men, but I am surprised that Dublin isn't one of the new things. Of course it would be Dublynn or something crazy....

Dublin doesn't surprise me. I've seen Early a few time before (better than just Earl, ick!), Alphacentori is straight up crazy!
I think Alpha Centauri is a star, but it's definitely spelled Centauri not centori, and it's not all one word. It's a bit ridiculous as a name, far too long and over the top - although I suppose you could use Alfie (or Alphi...) as a nickname.
Generally I find astronomy names a bit ridiculous, because they're usually very unusual sounding or complex or just sound like words rather than names - I do like Sirius and Orion. Also, Betelgeuse as a GP female name which I'd never use.
Dublin isn't that surprising, since place names seem to be all the rage, although it's surprising on an adult male. For some reason Dublin sounds like it might be a girls name - place names tend to be used for girls more than boys (like Bristol, London or Brighton)
Early is just rubbish. Again, it looks like a girly trend like other word names.

You're right - Alpha Centauri is a star, actually, a triple star system. One of its component stars is considered the closest star to Earth.

I wanted to be an astronomer, until I got to college and the physics and calculus course work made my head hurt :) I love astronomy names, but I like names that are over the top. I think (hope) I have enough common sense as to what names are OK to use should I ever pop out a kid. Vega might be usable, I've loved it for years. Maybe not, though. ;)

Haha
Just the idea of someone using Alphacentori for a name makes me laugh. Also because it should be spelled Alphacentauri. And is actually two words, but whatevs.
Neither Dublin nor Early would surprise me to see, and I don't think either are horrible, although Early is silly.

Dublin is okay. I have never heard of Alphacentori. I have seen Early on the popularity lists on this site from the late 1800s. I always wondered if it meant the baby was early, or if it is supposed to be a variation of Earl. Earlie (I believe this is similar to Early) was the first name of my great-grandpa on my mom's side, and the middle name of my grandpa on my mom's side.
Yeah, I wouldn't love Dublin to be a trend but I bet it would catch on if a celeb used it. It's OK as a one time sighting.
I suspect that Early is Earlie or a diminutive of Earl as well.
Alphacentori is just wayyyyy to out there, even for me!!
