[Opinions] Irene
WDYT of Irene? One of my middle names is Irene, but I've always thought that it would make a charming first name. What is your preferred way of pronouncing it? Thank you. :)

It's a beautiful name. It has a sweet, down-to-earth quality, but it also sounds dignified. I pronounce it ie-REEN (the first part like the word "I").

Not my style. I see it as still pretty dated. I pronounce it eye-REEN.

I say "eye-REEN". However I had a French teacher at school who pronounced it "ih-REN" and I think that's much prettier and more feminine. However I don't think that pronounciation would really work in an English-speaking family/comminuity.

I have always heard it pronounced eye REEN. I like it as a middle name. It is a little too dated for a first name imo. I can't picture calling a baby or child Irene, and it doesn't lead itself to good nicknames. I don't like Renie or Ren. Irina is lovely as a first name though.

I like Irene = eye-REE-ni, but the only way to achieve it seems to be spelling it Eirene! I cannot warm up to eye-reen.

I know a few people named Irene and theyre all nice so it has a good association to me, plus it makes me think of the song Irene, Goodnight, might make a nice middle name :)
