I was watching gymnastics the other day and one of the girls was named Kseniia. It kind of intrigued me. What do you think of it? How would you pronounce it?

There's a little girl at daycare named Ksenya, pronounced ks-SEN-ee-ə (ks sounds a lot like a flattened "kiss").

It's not something I'd use myself, but I do like the sound of it.

I wasn't sure if the K was silent or not. The American commentators pronounced it how you did but without the K. I wasn't sure if they were correct or not (perhaps this particular athlete did not pronounce the K.)

Ohhh. It looks like a corruption of Xenia (which I like). I can't say I like Kseniia though, to put it politely.

I didn't even think of Xenia, which I too like. Thank you for mentioning that. It helped me find Ksenia in the database.
