I think this one is too much of a word to be a name, and it has too many melancholy associations for me to consider it on a real person. I do like the sound though. I could see it on a character, like a nymph or something.
Pronouncing it like Greek could work, but everyone who saw it would say it like the word. I'd prefer Lona to Allie/Ally/etc., because it seems to 'fit' the name more.
One of my girl GP's is Abalone. Abalone "Alone" could be kind of cool as well..
