[Opinions] Kimberly
What kind of person do you picture when you see this name, or if you've met people with this name, what are they like?

Where I live, it would be a spelling error for a diamond mining town.
I've known a multitude of Kims, both male and female; all but one have been just Kim, not Kim-short-for-whatever. There is also a dancer named Kimbrian, which he can carry off but most others probably couldn't.
Kims, in my experience, lack energy and personality.

In general, people seem to think that Kimberly is a ditzy cheerleader name, but I know quite a few girls named Kimberly, and none of them are ditzy or cheerleaders. In fact, when I hear Kimberly, I think of a quirky girl who is very clever and hard-working but is a little rough around the edges. As I said, I know several girls named Kimberly, but of the two that I know best, one is very sweet and hard-working and the other has a bit of an attitude and is very quirky.
Kimberley was very popular when I was in school. It was considered trendy and cheerleader-ish. It was the Kinzy / Kaley / Cassidy of its day. Of course this is just an impression the name gave off back then. I knew many who were not cheerleaders or "trendy / flighty / superficial." I wouldn't assume this. It's just the feeling it gave off back then.
I try very hard not to let stereotypes or one bad associaiton take over a name. It's not fair on the poor name, afterall.

I agree. Kimberly sounds too girly and popular to really enjoy. And even if I look past the fluffiness of it, I just don't like the name.

What about . . . (OT)
Kinborough? ("KIN-bur-uh")
I'm sorry to hijack Lumiereslove's thread, but I had to ask. Kinborough is similar in look to Kimberley, but it's more interesting (to me at least.) Just a thought. I have a combination for it if you're interested. :-)
