[Opinions] Hope
I'd always kind of written Hope off as being trite, cheesy, and unappealing. Faith and Grace are in basically the same spot for me - I really like longer virtue names, but I have (or had?) a strong, irrational dislike for those three. Lately, though, I've been turning Hope over in my head and I actually sort of like it. I have no idea what caused the change. Faith and Grace are still completely unappealing to me.
What do you think of Hope? What would you pair with it?

Ah, lovely Hope. I love it for its sweet simplicity and beautiful meaning. It always makes me picture a bird soaring through a deep blue sky, probably because of the Emily Dickinson poem.
My Hope combo is Hope Susanna.

Hope sounds like a burp or a hiccup. It's not the last name on Earth that I'd ever choose, but it's in the bottom 100.
I really like Hope. I've always found it refreshing and it's such a great sentiment. And I love how open and white it is with a bit of purple... or mauve. I know a Hope and she gives it a good impression for me too. I think my favorite combo with it is Hope Guinevere.
I'm like you, I much prefer longer virtue names (I love Patience, Prudence, Constance and Temperance) but dislike Grace and Faith, and used to Hope but it's growing on me.
I now see a Hope as a fun loving girl who maybe isn't the most sensible or mature, but has a good heart
I'd part hope with something longer
Hope Evangeline
Hope Christiana
Hope Persephone
Hope Francesca

It's ok. The sound doesn't grab me as much as the meaning. I like the combo Sakura Hope because of a poem I wrote (called Tohoku Sakura) for the people of Tohoku and the feelings of new life that well up in the Jpns. heart in relation to Sakura blossoms.
Depending on whether it's the sound or meaning or both one is going for, it's nice being able to play around w/ names from other languages w/ the same meaning...
Esperance- Fr.
Esperanza- Span.
Nozomi (f) or Nozomu (f) - Jpns.
Can also use 1 of the kanji in the word for hope that can be prn'd ki and put it in various other names with ki in them... For example: 1 person I know had a baby last year and named him Kouki using the kanji for light and hope. I really like that.

I used to love it, it was my number 1 name. I still like it but not as much. Definitely overused as a middle name. The reason why it's not in my top ten anymore is that even though I really love it, I wouldn't want it to be my name. Not because it wouldn't fit me but because it would be a bit cheesy and weird. So I think that if you don't want to be named something you shouldn't give that name to your child. Unless you feel it just doesn't fit you because you don't look like a Hope/Daisy/Gemma or whatever :P
I love Faith too and Grace is alright.
I never came up with a good combo for it so I'll leave that to the other who answer.

I like Hope. I think I'd consider using it if my partner loved it but it isn't on the top of my list or anything. I think it is sweet and it ages well. I like it paired best with longer slightly interesting mns.
Hope Henriette is a favourite combo of mine but if you don't like alliteration then probably not for you.
