[Opinions] Courtly
What do you think of this, as a word name? I think it's obnoxious, but I still like it. I like that it references medievaly stuff.
Oh, and which sex do you think it suits?

I think people will keep assuming that it should be Courtney, which is unisex.
I think it's a stuck up version of Precious, et al.

It's awful. Besides the fact that it's a random word, it sounds like someone wanted to make Courtney "unique" by switching to the trendy "ly" ending.
Why???
It's not just obnoxious, it's like naming a kid King.

Courtly wold be male to me and I really don't like it (reminds me too much of Courtney which I dislike).
obnoxious pretty well covers it...
Though ridiculous also fits.
I guess it would be a male name, because only males tend to be described as courtly. But it's so obvious that it would be silly on a boy. Like calling a girl Gracious or Elegant, or calling either one Charming or Classy. Just dumb.

It could be a nice alternative to Courtney. It sounds pretty. I think it definitely more suits a female. I think that certain boys' names became girls' names because they were always more feminine-sounding to begin with, names such as Ashley, Hilary, Meredith, and Courtney. I think that Courtney sounds more feminine than masculine, so it would follow that I think that Courtly does, also.
I can't help it, but I'd totally expect her middle name to be Love. I'd be sorely disappointed if it was anything else.
And then, in that case - apart from mediaeval "courtly love", obviously - it would make me think of Courtney Love.
Courtly Love - the next generation's Courtney Love?
Nah, doesn't really work for me.
Then again, I'm still getting used to the concept of word names in general ;-)
Oh well, maybe I should just go to bed. Sorry for this pointless post.

I don't like it. I think it's always going to get confused with Courtney.
With the -ly ending it strikes me as girly. How about just Court, for a boy?
