[Opinions] Jody and Jodie
What do you think of Jody for a girl? Or would you prefer Jodie? Too nicknamey? Would you say it's a popular 70s name? People tell me it's 70s dated but it has never been really common according to statistics. I mean I have met quite a few so I was surprised because it seems more common than it should be.
How many have you met and how did they spell it?
Jody or Jodie for a girl?

I have never met a likable or attractive Jodie/Jody so I know Im biased but the name is really dated and somehow trashy sounding to me(though I dont know why). I wouldnt use it on a girl or boy.
Eh, I've never liked it. I think I knew one or two growing up, but I don't know any now. It does feel like a 60s/70s name, right at home with Kelly, Tracy, and Lisa.
Jodie looks babyish for some reason, so I prefer the Jody spelling.

Jodie Sweetin / Stephanie Tanner
All that comes to mind upon hearing this is Jodie Sweetin (born in 1982), who played the character Stephanie Tanner on the television sitcom "Full House" (1987 - 1995.) So, as the dates suggest, I see it as a very '80s (and '70s, I suppose) name.
It has never verbally or visually pleased me... the letter combination and sound is very heavy and tired. To be quite honest, it seems a bit childish, incomplete, and entirely like a nickname to me. For a similar name, I favor Judy (as a diminutive for Judith) much more.
That being said, I certainly prefer it over the atrocities of contemporary life. Unlike those, Jody is professional enough to function.

I've never known a Jody or a Jodie. This is one of my most hated names ever. I despise it. I think it's horrendous. It makes me shudder. It makes me want to vomit. I really really really hate it.
So, since my opinion is so strong, I just wanted to voice it...I hate the name so much I can't prefer a spelling.

EeeeeeeeeeeeeEeeeeeeeeeeEeeeeeeeeeeee
And imagine me saying that while I have a big stupid fake grin on my face.
That's what my husband used to do when he got caught in an embarrassing situation.

'S'all good!
I've met one Jodi, she would be 22 now. Before meeting her I would have said it was dated but she just had such a strong personality and the name was perfect for her. So now I don't think dated, I think awesome girl I knew in high school. I like that spelling because of her too, but I like Jody too. Jodie seems more nicknamey somehow.
I don't like the name, but I have a cousin named Jodie who is 12 tomorrow :)
I prefer Jodi... followed by Jody. Jodie just looks weird to me.
Though it did seem to be more common in the 70s, I don't see why it couldn't be used now.
I actually kinda like it. They've all spelt it either Jody or Jodi. Not sure how many I've known... a handful... mostly girls/women. I have 5 on my fb list at present (all fem.), 2 of which spell it with the i. However, in 1 case Jody is what her brothers started calling her when she was little and it stuck even though it's legally not her "real name". I've known and known of a few others as well. Those are just the ones on my list.

Hmmm. Jodie/Jody is all right. I prefer Jodie. I know three, two spelt Jodie and one Jody. I've also seen Jodhi, but my mind just screams NO! It makes me think jod-hee in pronounciation.
I don't think Jodie's too nicknamey. I've never known it as a nickname, just a full name. It does seem popular on people born in the 70s, and to me it is a bit 70s dated, but still usable.

Jodhi
Wow, that's bad.
I heard of a Bodhi being born last year and this might be even worse.

Isn't Bodhi a common name in some countries? It seems really familiar.
I looks to me like it might be Indian.
But this is a little Caucasian boy whose name is just a funky spelling of Bodie.

But Bodie isn't really legit either is it? So to me it doesn't matter because Bodie looks really made up too.
Is there a "legit" spelling for BOH-dee? I find the sound atrocious anyhow, so I've enver really thought about it.
Bodhi is a legit name from somewhere. http://www.behindthename.com/submit/name/bodhi I knew a guy with that name once. He appeared to be a stereotypical American white guy. I guess maybe his parents were hippies? Bodhi was actually #911 for US boys in 2010.
By the way, I like your name. Even though I already said that in my reply to the OP =)
