I think Kaya would likely be pronounced Ky-ah most often, given it's similarity to the word kayak, I think most would tend towards that. It's similarity to other names might muddy the waters a bit, with
Maya (my-ah) and Taya (tay-ah) and
Kayla..
I don't think the spelling alters the trend factor.
I wouldn't assume anything as far as spelling if I met someone whose name sounded like "ky-ah", b/c I've known 3, all spelled differently- Kaya,
Kaia and Kya. The one who spells it Kaya is a boy, it's interesting to note.
If I saw the name Kaya, I would pronounce it Ky-ah.
One thing to consider if using this name, and I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet.. are you a
Bob Marley fan? Enjoy the ganja? B/c Kaya is the name of an epic
Marley album (and song), and it is also a common Jamaican slang for marijuana. Something to consider..
