Maybe to an English speaker it sounds like a "h", but to a Portuguese-speaker the sounds are completely different. The same way English speakers read the French "é" as "ay" - just an aproximation because the sounds doesn't exist in their language.Listen how a Brazillian says "Ronaldo" here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1rfXdFPow8 - a lazy rolled r, definitely not a "h".
