For a nickname, anything goes. For a real-life first name, I don't like it.

I like it, it's my dog's name! I do like it for a boy though, sounds strong to me.

It's fine as a nickname, but I don't think it works well as an actual first name.

When my second cousin had her son a few years ago, her husband named him Ace in anticipation of his future baseball prowess, because it would look cool in the newspaper when little Ace grew up to be the high school star pitcher. I feel that Ace is better as a nickname, after a child has actually earned it.

It really only works as a nickname to me. It's too hotshot-ish and insubstantial to go on it's own. I know a guy who goes by it, but it's the first syllable of his last name.

I actually love the name Ace. I think it sounds cool and hip.

Ace would make a cute nn for Asa (m) or Acacia (m). But I would never vote for Ace as a name in its own right.

I like it as a nickname for Aeson

I think of Ace Ventura, Pet Detective. It's a pretty funny movie. Not keen on Ace as a name.

But that aside, I think it sounds really dumb jock ish, sorry. Like being named Chip.

I've met two Aces, and they were both German Shepherds. It's a great dog name, but I find it ridiculous on a human.

Ace is like Buddy, Buster, or Sport to me; it's the sort of generic pet name that you could occasionally call any little boy, but wouldn't want to put on a birth certificate. Ace could be a nickname for Asa, too.

It makes a cute name for a dog, but as a full given name for a person it seems cheap and lazy. I think of Ace as kind of an old-fashioned thing a flirtatious woman might call a man she likes, kind of like Tiger or Handsome.
