[Facts] The name Nikida
I was messing around doing a google search and entered my daughter's name - NIKIDA (pronounced Nickeeda). I came up with a couple of hits from your site. Nikida was born in 1979 and I thought I made up her name - I liked Nikita which is a russian man's name and also Nikidtja which is an aboriginal name. Ended up I just changed the "t" to a "d" and hence Nikida. I can find more recent usage of this name so pehaps it caught on but does anyone know of the name, meaning etc prior to 1979?

The Greek connectionLet us start with the premise that the main root of Nikida is the Greek word/name Nike, meaning "victory".The following "variants" of Nike close to Nikida are registered in the *Lexicon of Greek Personal Names* (http://www.lgpn.ox.ac.uk):Male:
Nikides
NikidasFemale:
Nikis
Nikidion
NikidoThe modern/demotic Greek version Nikis could very well be Nikida, in the same way that Alcestis becomes Alcestida. It seems tp me you have reinvented/resurrected a very ancient name :)
