[Opinions] Bijou

I admit that I like the sound of it, but my first thought was "Save it for a poodle."

I remember my brother used to watch an anime called Hamtaro. It was about hamsters and one of them was named Bijou. That is all I can think of when I hear this name.
It's long been on my short list if I ever get a French poodle, but I think it's too twee for a human!
As a name...I really don't like it (however I think it's a nice sounding word. But it should stay like that)
I only like it as a dog name, and for that, I think it's really cute. It's perfect for both those tiny dogs that can be dressed up like dolls and carried around in a handbag and for something massive but sweet, like a mastiff or wolfhound.
For people, I much prefer Jewel. There's something earthy, folksy, and sturdy about Jewel, while Bijou is just precious.

I went to school with a girl named Jewell.
Kind of a princessy name, but she was a no-nonesence type of person, direct and up-front.Though certainly pretty.
I always found it beautiful that her parents must have considered her their "jewell".

It sounds like the nickname of some Belle Epoque courtesan.
But it would make a cute name for a pet.

I like it as a GP, it sounds kind of nickname-y like when a parent will call their daughter Princess or something along those lines as a small child.
I actually really love the name Bijou. It is a bit cutesy, but not overly so. I think I would have a bit of an issue if the person who used it didn't speak at least a little French. Bijoux on the other hand I would never use and find kind of silly. Funny how one letter can change everything.
I kinda like it. Though it does remind me of Hamtaro. (One of the female hamsters on Hamtaro was named Bijou.)
