[Opinions] Day
Do you think this could work as a name? It sounds similar to Kay and Ray which are familiar but I like how it's a word name and it makes me think of fresh, new beginnings. I also like Bay and Mae.
Boy or girl? Opinions?
I've never met a Day but I know a Daelyn. I like Day much better.
If you had to rank them (comment please if you have time):
Bay
Kay
Ray
Day
May
Fay
Gay (yeah I guess this doesn't work well anymore but I thought I'd include it, maybe someone likes it as a guilty pleasure)
Jay
Tay
You can pick out the names you think of as masculine and the ones you think of as feminine and rank them separately if you wish. You can change spellings.

I think it can work. It's not the strangest name out there and it's a nice concept. I'd say it's unisex.
May- I love May enough to consider using it.
Kay- I prefer Kaye, but it's a nice enough name.
Fay- About at the same level as Kay, and again, I prefer Faye.
Ray- I think it has kind of a cool vibe. This is my uncle's name, so I do have a strong association with it.
Day- Nice enough name.
Tay- I like Taye for a boy, but I don't really like it without the E.
Jay- Never been a huge fan of Jay.
Bay- Don't like it. Too literal.
Gay- I'm all for gay rights, but I wouldn't give my child this name.

I really like Day for a girl, it's okay for a boy. For either it is not quite my style, mostly since it is such a short name. I love the nature connection and I prefer the name Day over Tuesday, Wednesday, Sunday, etc...
Like Ludwig mentioned I'm surprised that this name isn't more used since May and days of the week names are fairly used.

I love Day as a middle name for a girl!
I think Bay is kind of cute in a trendy way. I like Fay and May a lot. Kay is cute. Ray is classless imo. Jay just seems like the letter to me, not a name. Gay is kind sweet but too loaded. I love Galen though! Tay is a cute nickname, but not so great on its own.
I would consider Fay, May, Day, Bay, and Tay feminine and Ray and Jay masculine.

I think Day would make a good middle name, and for either gender, but I don't care for it as a first name.
The only ones I like from that list are Jay (masculine) and May (feminine), and Tay (feminine) might work as a nickname for Taylor but I do not think it would make a good full name.

Girl, and I think it isn't that bad, but isn't very good either. Sounds vaguely obtuse somehow... Day, dae, duheee.
In order
Jay - unisex. I had an aunt Jay (greataunt? Grandaunt? whatever - she was born before 1900). I considered it for my son - I like it for girls but would only use for a boy
Ray - boy only - what a cool name. Rae for a girl, but I don't care for that.
Kay - girl. Like Jay, it's sort of a letter name, but substantial enough.
May - girl. The image of the month is too mild and sweet for my taste and the word may is a problem IMO but the name is alright. NMS.
Day
Fay - don't like it. Suggests fairies, goofy. Or, retro like Fay Wray? It's ott somehow, nmsaa.
Gay - a legit girl name with a nice meaning, just sort of obsolete.
Tay - childish nick for Taylor, ugh. unisex
Bay - horsey.

I'm surprised that Day isn't used more, honestly. It's a nice concept. I think of it as unisex leaning female. I wish I were more into it, just sound-wise, but I'm not! I love daytime so much, so it's odd for me not to like it.
If Gay weren't a word meaning gay I'd like it a lot, I think it's very pretty.
Let's see... these are mostly unisex but they tend to lean
Gay - leans female, quite pretty
Ray - leans male with this spelling. I like it, trying to like it more since B likes Raymond
Kay - leans female but I like it more on a boy
Jay - leans male. sharp and smart
Fay - female, I like it a lot too
Day - leans female but is kind of boyish
Tay - leans female. not bad, I guess, but very light
May - female, I find it pretty blah
Bay - just sounds big and fat

Yeah, me too. Especially as a middle name. It has a nice image and goes well with pretty much anything.
I don't think it would work als a name, kid would be bullied. (what do they call you at night, or what day are you? Monday, tuesday....)
Maybe as a nickname for Dale, Dayton or something similar.
Ranking the names:
Fay, cute name for a girl
May, cute name for a girl
Kay, love this for a boy.
Ray, like this as diminutive for Raymond
Jay, nickname for Jason or James or other J. name
Tay, not sure, kinda like it, maybe as a nickname.
Bay, don't like it
Day, maybe as a nickname
Gay, I don't think a kid would be happy these days with this name, but I like the (original) meaning.
