If you want the 'y' sound then spell it with a 'y', especially if you think most people would otherwise pronounce it kam-alla. Also, I think if you're not Hispanic, to expect people to pronounce a child's name Kamalla as 'kam-aye-ah' might be a bit funny.
Also, I'm pretty sure you asked for opinions on this before.
I remember my answer being along the lines of:
Kamalla (ka-mal-ah) sounds too much like Kabbala, therefore I prefer Kamaya.

My husband is Hispanic, though he doesn't speak Spanish. I would choose to spell it with two ll's for numerology purposes. Yes, I did post this question before and thought I'd post one more time thinking that maybe there might be some new people on it and I can get their opinions as well since most people don't look all the way through to older posts. This is the first time I've ever really done the message board thing so not exactly sure how it totally works. Thanks.
