Help[Opinions] Mona
What do you think of Mona? I like how it has nice meanings in several cultures but dislike how it sounds like 'moaner' in some accents and how it's the Spanish word for a female monkey.
Opinions? Do you think it could make a comeback? It never sounded dated to me because I knew surprisingly many growing up.

If it could be Mon-a, i like it, but Moana, no, don't like it.

It sounds like "moaner" when I say it, so I don't like it.

I quite like it. A friend of mine from Anglesey (a large island in Wales, Ynys Môn in Welsh) has it as a middle name after the Latin name for the island. I think you're right about 'moaner' being a problem, but it makes a nice unexpected middle name.

There was an animated TV show when I was a kid called Mona the Vampire (she wasn't actually a vampire, just dressed up like one), it was a really sweet programme and the character didn't do the name any harm but it's all I can think of when I hear the name.

I've never liked Mona very much, simply because of the 'moaner' sound. Other than that, it's not too bad. Although, it does seem incredibly old lady-ish to me. Something tells me it won't make a comeback anytime soon, definitely not in Anglophone countries. It's just too moany.
