As much as I love Welsh names, I think it would be a bit difficult for people to pronounce, at least here in America.

Fiona, however, has long been in my top five, and I wouldn't hesitate to use that one.

I love it. It's no harder to say than is Fiona. I know a Ffion who turned four a few days ago. She's Welsh, like British politician William Hague's wife Ffion.

If I lived in Wales or for that matter the UK I'd use it. But it would be a headache here in the U.S. (Caveat emptor: I'd name a dd Niamh or Aoife tomorrow. If I love a name I can rationalize using it anywhere.)

I think it's really pretty. I might consider it because I live somewhere where Welsh names aren't unheard of.

The pronounciation isn't that hard, but it might just lead to difficulties if you live in an area where Welsh names are uncommon. You'd have to explain to a lot of people how it is spelt and pronounced. Not the worst thing in the world, but it's something to consider.

I personally think Fiona is just as pretty, and avoids the complications.
