Janson is a Swedish surname (usually spelt Jansson). I know many people with this surname.
Jan is a Swedish form of Johannes/John.
Jensen is a Danish surname, also very common in Denmark.
Jens is the Danish form of Johannes/John.
To me, both names sound very strange as fn. But since both the "son" in Janson and the "sen" in Jensen mean "son", I find them both more suitable for a boy.
I second the suggestion of using
Jonas as a way to honor your dh.
Or, instead of a name meaning "Johnson", why not
John or a form of
John, like
Jack,
Ian,
Sean,
Evan,
Ivan,
Johan etc?
I think
Everett (nn Rett?) would be a great fn too.
