[Opinions] Dorritt
So I was reading about a new show on the CW, "The Carrie Diaries" which is about teenage Carrie Bradshaw from "Sex & the City", and it mentioned that she has a sister on the show named Dorritt. I thought Carrie and Dorritt sounded totally weird as a sibset, but what do you guys think?

Dorritt just sounds dumb. Are Carrie's parents particularly literary? I always wondered if Carrie was short for Caroline? But yeah, I agree with Roxstar that an 80s Carrie would have a Stephanie, Lisa, Michelle, Sarah sibling.

Maybe if mom was of Danish background and got kre8iv with Dorit?
- Nah, still totally weird. :D

ITA with others who say it's unbelievable. Some writer putting a GP of theirs on a supporting character. I get a medieval vibe from Dorritt. Like it's an archaic nn for Dorothy ... sort of like Polly, Peggy, or Ned.

I had assumed Dorritt was masculine. (With likes of Emmett, Beckett, Bennett, Everett, etc). Hm. Dori is a cute nickname, but I don't like Dorritt. And it sure is random with Carrie.

Yeah, Carrie and Dorritt do sound quite strange for sister's names! Maybe if it was like Caroline "Carrie" and Dorothy "Dorritt" but still it's odd.I don't mind Dorritt for a girl too much because of Charles Dickens' novel 'Little Dorrit' where the heroine is Amy Dorrit but she's often called "Little Dorrit" because she's the youngest daughter and a small mousie young lady. I don't really like the Dorritt spelling though.

It just doesn't sound believable. A Carrie who's a teenager in the eighties would have a sister named Michelle, Julie, Lisa, Kim, like that.
