I meant that since there are so many more common and nicer names in a similar vein that I could see given, I didn't see Dominator being used. I've met Dominics too :)

It's a name belonging in an adult orientated book, with that sort of topic.
Or war videogames, if it has characters named Gunner and Shooter, cause Dominator could easily fit as a dictator typer of person, where you have to make good guys Gunner and Shooter kick Dominator's butt.
