[Opinions] Lagina
This was the name of a customer at the pizza place today. It's pronounced la-JEE-nah, but I couldn't help but think of her as la-JY-nah. It's just an unfortunate name, IMO.So, what do you think of Lagina?

Not really appealing in my opinion.

Eesh. I've known a lot of women with names like Ladawn and Laray, so I can see that it's supposed to be "La + Gina," but, yeah. It looks like labia and vagina collided. There's something almost clinical about it. Like you'd go to the gynecologist when you're having trouble with your lagina region.

I agree, unfortunate is the word. It reminds me of meeting or hearing of women named Rotunda. Not particularly flattering.

What do u think I think of it. I think it looks like vagina.

Yeah, I thought of that unfortunate pronunciation right away too. Aside from that , Lagina is like Ladonna or Lacrystal or Lajessica, ruining a perfectly good name by sticking an unnecessary la on it.

Lajean? (probably already been done.) Lastarla? I think that would defeat the most determined "La"-ers.

Ha I sorta like Lastarla!I wonder if there are any girls named Valjean out there.La'emma doesn't really work.. but Lämma is sort of interesting. (ä=a+e)

Lämma? Lämma - and the silence thereof ;)
Lämma = a sloppily pronounced "Lämmer" ("lambs")

I was thinking of the animal llama.

Lämma is prn more like Lemma than Lamma

It looks like llama to me, but then I don't speak any Scandinavian languages. (I'm guessing Lämma is from a Scandinavian language.

German. :) Yeah, I had no idea to pronounce ä until I started studying German. Someday I just want to take a crash course in the pronunciation of every language... not any of the words' meanings, but just how they should sound in my head when I encounter them. lol

Sometimes those prefixes can go quite wrong. My granddad had a student named Demonica. Supposed to just be Monica with a De- in front of it, but...

That one is rather unfortunate. Parents really ought to think through these things before inflicting them on their children.

Sounds like a good name for a band though!jellybeans

Definitely unfortunate, for obvious reasons! At least she could go by Gina...

Oh, how unfortunate.

I agree that it is an unfortunate name. It seriously looks like a typo.

Ditto on the "la-JY-na"...

Labia + vagina = nooooooooooo.

I'm inclined to agree with you. It also makes me think of lasagna though... so just combining those thoughts... not pretty.

I think it's unfortunate as well. Too bad her parents didn't just name her Regina instead. If I were her, I would go by Gina or my middle name. I would probably have my name legally changed to whatever I decided to go by.

Yep, I feel about the same way you do about it. Plus something about that combination of letters is making me think of lasagna and iguanas
