Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands is abdicating in favor of her oldest son Willem-Alexander, but this is a pretty common practice, I guess. Her mother abdicated in favor of her, as did her grandmother. I thought the Dutch royal names might be refreshing after the lovely, but often used Edward-Henry-Anne-Mary-and-Elizabeths of the UK.
